ahaha... I'm going to get nightmares. I normally don't like scary games, but I saw DieDevDie play this and it looked really interesting. When Susie appeared I tried turning on the power (while still holding her lol). It would've been kinda funny if I was able to throw her into the trash can in the break room.

I loved DieDevDie's video! It was very thoughful of him to not read the descriptions, in order to not trigger his viewers, even if a big fundamental feature of the game was lost then, it's still really sweet!

Yeah, Susie is quite the rascal :3, sorry for the nightmares! I wish you a good sleep anyhow :D. Throwing her out is certainly something any SANE person would do :P

(+1)

I sleep with a stuffed dog; hopefully he doesn't try to kill me o_o||

(+1)

Do I have to start a new game to meet the craftsman?

Nope, just load the game and use the retry button. That is in the report section. So pc, Lily, retry.

(+1)

I did that after ending no 2, which I tried doing that route but didnt get invited.

The invitation ending gives you the instructions to get the 3rd ending, it tells you to turn off the power while playing Hide n' Seek with Lily. You trigger the new content by touching the chair (beating Lily in HnS) WHILE the power is out. This can be done in a already finished game, by "Repearing" Lily. The Repear button is there not only to fix errors in the assignments, but also as a replay function. It mostly serves the purpouse of not having to replay the entire game to get different endings, as that would get way too repetitive. You don't need to get the first 2 endings to get the 3rd and 4th, it just tells you HOW to get them.

1st Ending - Finish the game regularly, make at least one mistake

2nd Ending - Finish the game regularly, have no mistakes

3rd Ending - Beat Lily HnS while the power is out, interact with the Craftsman

4th Ending - Beat Lily HnS while the power is out, let go of Susie (won't spoil how, but it is pretty simple), interact with the Craftsman

Hope this helps you out!

I hope you guys can put your games to steam.

I'll wait happly for new games!

(+1)

We are working on the upcoming update, alongside another game, that has been in the works for 3 years! But when the update releases, there is a big chance that we will be satisfied enough to put it on steam. Thank you for patience and suggestion! <3

(+1)

10/10 game, very fun, amazing story, you cooked with this one. I look forward to more of Play Things and other games of yours. Much love Burning Eye :3

Thank you, that's a really sweet message for me and the team! It really helps to keep me motivated <3

(+1)

Im having hard time with reading the texts on the paper, is there better way to make it look more readable?

(+1)

nvm its more readable when I press F to edit the paper my bad, good game! thanks

(1 edit) (+1)

Yup! You got it! But thank you anyway for reporting something, that would be a pretty big deal, if not for the "F to edit" function. And thank you for calling this project a good game! <3

(+1)

can I also suggest one more thing, its really annoying to go all the way back to the other table to get the paper to mark the boxes, cant paper just spawn next to the computer so that player wont need to run around the room for a paper? I mean its not a big deal its already great with that but its just a little annoying for me, its my idea Idk what others think to be honest

(+1)

It's certainly a valid point, given that you would take the doll with you, and you cannot carry around the paper WITH the doll. I may look into this, but it will not spawn anywhere away from the "ringing" table.  Instead I might make the testing sheet be always present in the player, and not making an item you have to grab. But Imma have to think more about that decision, as it could mess up something else! But thank you for the suggestion!

(+1)

you are a great dev for listening people! I wish you bests in your future! I'll definitely buy the game when it comes to steam

(+1)

forgot what my laptop's name is so when the game said it I was thrown way off guard from being deadnamed LMAOOOO

Ha! Yeah, that part I had to warn some streamers about, as they tend to have their real name as their computer name, with their fans not knowing their real name, thankfuly this was never that damaging, as far as I know at least. But yeah, it's a pretty common factor, but Mr. Ch. A. is certainly a somebody that we can expect to see return

(+1)

it doesn't want to download  think its some glitch or smt can anyone help me with this problem pls

There may be some issues with the webpage, the download process should be really simple. You hit the "Download now" button, then to get the game for free, you hit "No thanks, just take me to the downloads", there you hit "Download" next to the newest version. The game has no setup, as soon as it downloads, you can extract the .zip file and open the executable.

If you still have trouble, maybe try to download the game at some other time, OR maybe try another browser, I'm not sure what your issue might really be, as the downloading process is really outside my reach

(+1)

thank you so much for your help. i really appreciate it and idk to cause its the first time happening to me but thank you for your help with all my hearts 💖💖💖

You are very welcome! <3 I wish you a great day! ^˘^

(+1)

How do I obtain the first ending? I've gotten all 3 endings save for the first and I don't know if that would involve me incorrectly assessing all the dolls.

In order to get the 1st ending, you need to make at least one mistake! You can re-do a doll and mess it up on purpose. Then just continue, like usual, and the bad ending will happen!

Thank you for taking such an interest, that you managed to get all the other endings though!

(+1)

Really enjoyed this game, fantastic job! One of the dolls scared me a lot more than probably intended haha! <3
(+1)

10/10 Enjoyed all the game

Thank you so much! <3 I am really glad that you enjoyed the game this much, it means a lot!!

(+1)

do you have any game maker tips?

Oh, sure! I'd be happy to give some game development tips!

#1 - Know what you want to do.

Plan ahead with what type of game you want to make. Ideally, write it down. Brainstorm ideas of mechanics and the story (Depending on the genre). The same goes for the engine, I work in Unreal Engine 5, and I'd say it is a great point for both beginners and advanced devs. Lots of good tutorials, if you are just starting out, no knowledge needed for programming languages and it is free. However, if you are a complete beginner, an easier start would perhaps be RPG Maker, or Game Maker studio, for mostly non-3D projects.

#2 - Know the limit of your ambitions

Your first projects will not be your best and that is totally fine! You need those first steps to start reaching the tops! A lot of devs do not finish their projects, as they get way to ambitious, and start piling ideas to make their game huge, but don't really know how to execute them. This will make the project suffer, mostly with the quantity over quality department, if the dev does not simply give up because they aren't able to reach their big expectations. I get it, you want your game to be good next to other games, people don't really care if you are indie or beginner, etc. They will judge you by the sheer quality. (Also don't mind hate. If someone just blindly says your work sucks, without pointing out anything, it's blind hate. No need to waste your time with those). Your first game should be no longer then 30 minutes, or even 15. Just a short project, depending on the genre you like, with a simple premise and mechanics.

#3 - Solo / Team

Game development isn't just programming. There are a bunch of aspects to it, like graphics, sound, music, story, testing, (Maybe voice acting), etc. If you have 0 knowledge and interest in some pretty important aspect, try to build a team. Ask friends or reach out in discord servers. Of course going solo is a possibility, but you'll need more skills than just programming. Some other software I always personally use for game development are: Audacity for sound design, Photoshop for textures, Blender for models and animations, FL Studio for music, Google Docs for writing, Miro for planning, mind maps and lore.

#4 - If you tend to procrastinate
One thing I do to avoid procrastinating, is splitting parts of development. There ARE aspects that I like to do more than others (e.g. I love writing but I find modeling boring). So, when I feel like I have a lot of energy for the day, I do stuff I dislike more, then, all I have left are things that I love to the, which is enough to boost me into working

#5 - Don't give up and Don't make too much stuff

Don't give up is obvious, but still pretty overlooked. The second part is me trying to BEG YOU to not make more than 2 projects (Ideally just 1) at a time. Starting a new game is usually more fun than finishing one, especially when you aquire skills while working on the previous one, but if you never finish and just keep starting new ones / restarting the current one, becajse it can now be better, you won't get anywhere with this loop. Try your best to avoid it. And of course, don't give up. Try, do, repeat, you'll build an audience, steam and itch (and a lot of others) will help you. You got this!

Hope this helps! Thank you for the comment!

i really like this game saw my fav youtuber play it cant wait for the next update!!

Thank you! I do have a lot of work outside of development, and I want to make sure that the update (and new titles). Support like this really helps me with motivation, thank you!

(+1)

I really liked the game can't wait for the endless mode, i did encounter a bug in the video but that did not stop me from enjoying the game really love reading the story

Thank you for playing!! I will check it out to see what the bug is, thank you for reporting it! And again, thank you for the kind words <3

(+1)

really love the game can't wait for the endless mode

I came 50 times then I launched the game. Unreal.

Thanks David :D I appreciate it

I just finished this game.  I've been heavily playing doll games lately and this one was AMAZING.  I love that all of the dolls had stories and some of them even made me tear up and I loved the mechanics and how they were different from the other doll games I have played.

My only criticism is that the game is really dark and I had a hard time navigating, so a gamma slider would be nice to be able to adjust the brightness. There were points the game was so dark I needed to use multiple items and I was unable to see and it got really frustrating after awhile.

Other then that the game was amazing, I  plan to go back later and get all the endings.

This was fun,  different and very well made!

(1 edit)

Thank you so much for the positive review! The game does tend to get darker on low and medium lighting settings, as light bouncing gets disabled, but I understand that some people want higher performance! A gamma slider is actually a neat idea, I can definitely add that! It will be included in the new update, which will hopefully come out in about a month, depending on how much time off work I’ll have. Thank you for the suggestion!

(+1)

You created another masterpiece! Thank you for developing this game!

These Dolls Are Making A Killing! Play Things Full Gameplay

Thank you so much! And thank you for the video! <3

(+1)

Hey love the game however I wanted to know if I can get Bella's stuff correctly when I turn out the lights I only get the bad ending, or do I just have to skip it and not do it correctly?

Heya! You should NOT turn off the power for Bella, but rather just the light in the testing room, say her name, and she should react! Thank you for your positive outlook on the game <3

Bella spoiler

If you still cannot get past her, just check the name call test with a red checkmark (and temperature).

(+1)

Omg you're so right I did have the power off only in the testing room but I misclicked resist and didn't know, great design user error and a fantastic game!

(+1)

I'm Done With Dolls.... Play Things

This game was great! I loved every bit of it and the jumpscares at the end got me good😂😂

 Keep up the great work👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Thank you so much! Loved the vid! <3

Thanks!

good game  with absolutely garbage endings

I am sorry that the endings have not satisfied ya, I can say that the true ending is a huge head scratcher for a lot of people, rightfully so. But thank you still for labeling the game as "Good"!

(+1)

this game should be on Steam

(+2)(-1)

We are thinking of transferring the game on steam (while keeping it updated on itch.io, as it will stay free to play, even on steam), and that comes along with the endless mode update, wich I plan on making sooner than I thought. Once the update will come out, I will very likely release the game on steam. Thank you for the recommendation!

(+2)

holy fucking shit this is by far the greatest itch.io horror game that ive ever played in my entire life (i might be overexaggerating but its true). the inspections were fun to do and man the hide and seek doll and that last doll were absolutely horrifying they got my heart beating like crazy.

the lore is especially insane in this game which i didnt expect at all and right now i got the 2nd ending and ill definitely try my best to get the rest of the endings soon.

10/10 i really need to see the big youtubers like markiplier, jacksepticeye, manlybadasshero, etc to play this so bad

(+1)

Wow, those are some seriously inspiring words, I am beyond happy that you found our game so entertaining, and I promise that I'll keep the entertainment of our titles going up and up.  I am really glad that you enjoyed the lore, it is certainly my personal favourite branch of game development! Although Play Things won't have a direct sequel, the story has some obvious loose ends that will soon be answered (While simultaneously more loose ends will be created :P)

Thank you once again for such a positive review of our title, it really does bring me joy and the inspiration to keep creating! ❤️

(+1)

Awesome Game !
(+1)

Thank you!! <3

(+1)

Great game!

Thank you so much for playing! It was lovely to watch! It's also nice to see that the vid did relatively well on your channel! (Additionally, that is one badass beard my man!)

(+1)

Thanks a bunch!

(+1)

This game is so freaking good!  I love it!!  Not all my videos are uploaded on my channel yet, but you'll get to see my real reaction to it in a few days!  Absolutely amazing you guys!  Spooky, fun, quirky!  An absolute delight to play!

Thank you so much for such a positive review!!! It always warms my heart! I saw your videos, love your commentary! Keep it up! Thank you again <3

(+2)

The doll that killed the father deserves a medal 🥇

Haha! It is really interesting to see how people react and deal with the situation. Pretty much 4/5 of people agree with you (including me) but there are some that do actually say murder is too far! I think it's an interesting thing to think about, hence putting such a dark matter in the game. It's a sorta "Putting justice into our own hand" kinda situation

(+2)

I have mixed feelings about this one. The first playthrough was an easy 4/5. Great atmosphere, satisfying gameplay loop, and a unique experience with every doll. Some of them gave me actual chills; Andy's section was especially well done.

Going back for the other endings was what tanked my enjoyment. Even with the replay feature, this game is very tedious the second time around since there are no more surprises. The method of getting the 3rd and 4th endings is clever, but the novelty wears off after doing it once. If the true ending involved an especially difficult secret level, the tedium might be worth it, but the only reward for getting every ending is additional lore. In my opinion, this is not the kind of game that needs a story, especially one this confusing.

If I could give this game a 3.5/5, I would. Getting the other endings was a 3/5 experience, but the first playthrough was so solid that it would be unfair to rate it as such. I suppose this comment serves as both a critique of the game and a warning to future players.

Also, I would recommend removing the last screenshot from the info page since it's a spoiler.

(1 edit)

Heya! Thank you for such constructive criticism! I hope that you did not play the game "again," from the begining as you can load and just fix the problems but I think that is what you mean by the "Replay" feature. But if you had a long time reaching the 2nd ending, it likely means that you made tons of errors in your testing procedure. I totally agree that the game has a very linear enjoyment, and the 2nd time playing is not as fun as the first (hopefully that will not be the case in the upcoming endless mode :P). Thank you for the compliment about the 3rd and 4th endings. It is true that you have to complete the challenge twice, which again, loses its magic, and all you really get is extra lore indeed. I might actually add a "Chapter" option so that people can skip some already seen game sections if they want to see other endings, to make it less tedious! And ok, you know what, the last pic does kinda spoil somethin' :D good call, I'mma remove that one, thank you!

Again, thank you for the valid criticism. I am sorry that (assuming) reaching the second ending was taking a long time for you. I would recommend checking the report section after every doll to immediately see if you are doing everything correctly, as if you make a lot of mistakes, you just repeat sections you have already seen as a sorta punishment. But still, thank you for the criticism and for seemingly reaching all endings, even though it was painful for you :D!

(1 edit) (+1)

This is and without a doubt one of the best horror games I have EVER played, and it might actually be the best and I really like this game so much that I actually played until I got all 4 endings.

This is a piece of art and I am looking forward to seeing the endless mode and I am already sure that it will be amazing.

Btw is there more than 4 endings? if yes then Amma play more :)

Keep up the good work

Wow, I can't express just how much does means to me. It brings tears to my eyes man, thank you so much!! After the endings, there is nothing more to do in the game, until the Endless mode comes out (with it comes along achievements, too!). Thank you once again for such inspiring words, that really gives me what I need to have the energy to continue making experiences like this! I'll be sure to put a lot of effort for the upcoming "Endless mode" update. I salute you!

(+1)

-Spoiler-

You can get soft locked at the last doll "Susie?", closing the metal testing room door before requesting the doll followed by the blackout leads to a soft lock of not being able to call the dolls name.

Oh also, Pretty cool game, looking forward for any future works by you guys.

(+1)

Oh! Good catch! It's thankfully easy to just reload, but I'll fix it anyhow, thank you for the report and I am really glad that you enjoyed it!

(+1)

This was such a fun creepy and amazing play! I loved the mechanics, the story, the background for each doll it was so good! And yeah the scares got me each time! Great job!

Thank you so much!! I'll be sure to check the vid out in its entirety! Thank you for the kind words <3

(+1)

You're so welcome and of course! It was such a delight to play and I hope you enjoy the gameplay!

(+1)

Well! Bro, this game is amazing! The storyline is well written, and you can find the terrifying truth hidden in the toy doll! What kind of toy doll did everyone have when they were young? I threw it on the bed and slept peacefully hahaha. I did a good job. I like this game. Please continue to develop more works!😁

Thank you!! I always appreciate such kind words <3! I had a tiger plushie when I was young, but my cousins and siblings had dolls that I was indeed scared off xP

(+1)

Came back to finish this after the bug update, and holy shit this game is amazing! I did not see the ending at all (I unlocked the True Ending).  Amazing story and awesome gameplay.  I was engaged throughout.  My only criticism is that I do kinda wish that some safe dolls were thrown in here and there in the late game, kinda removed the mystery of whether a doll was or wasn't cursed.  My favorites in the early game were dolls that sounded haunted, but a non-supernatural tragedy explaining the events were even more haunting.  If you do want to turn all dolls cursed then it makes those with low stakes late-game (like mr. bun bun) seem underwhelming and meh.  Regardless, fantastic game and I cannot wait for more stuff from you!

That is certainly a valid point, Mr. Bunbun was thrown in the middle of some more intense dolls, while being pretty silly by his lonesome. And while I have a good reason for that lore wise, gameplay wise it does make it pretty linear. I believe that this will not be an issue in the endless mode, once that will be out, as that will have two modes, in one mode, it will be completely random as to what doll you get after another, so you'll very likely won't expect the result, however, the thing you pointed out, given that you have aperently read the results (Wich I also want to thank you for :P), the truth about the dolls in their story is hard to do in a random algorithm, but we will try our hardest anyhow! Thank you so much for your valid criticism and an overall severely positive review! Melts my heart every gosh darn time! And congratulations for reaching the True ending!

(+1)

Just finished watching a walkthrough of this (@petangames) and wow, just felt right to buy it :) this is amazing, I'm really digging the idea. keep up the great work!!

Thank you! Petangames made an awesome vid about it, and in a unknown side, he actually wrote an email to a friend of mine (Pablo, the tester), regarding the game, he gave us valid criticism, that we have applied on the very next update and he offered himself as a voice actor for an upcoming title! Thank you again for such kind words <3

(+1)

"I was trying to collect all the endings, but I accidentally threw the flashlight and lost it. Olga needs the flashlight to defeat the enemy. I ran everywhere looking for it. Is there a way to reset the item?

Yep! The Computer (Terminal) has both highlighting items AND reseting their location!

(+1)

I dedicated four hours to unlock all the endings—this game is truly exceptional! Have you considered releasing it on Steam? This would allow so many more players to discover such an outstanding game. Also, if possible, would it be feasible to add more language options, such as Chinese?

Wow, that is quite the dedication! Thank you! When it comes to steam, we DO think of a free steam release, but that is when this game will get a big update, that will most notably add the endless mode! When it comes to different localization for the game other then english and czech, it is quite difficult, as those are the only two languages I know fluently, any other will have to be artificially translated and I just don't think that the AI or Google Translated result would be as fluent, or heck, maybe they'd even change the context, wich as a writer is very important to me. It is not really that DIFFICULT to add the language google translated, so I might do that, with the reminder that it might have errors in the sentence structure, so hey, I will look into it! Until then though, we are working on new titles, that will hopefuly be out soon! Thank you again for playing and congratz for getting all 4 endings!

(+1)

Not sure why this game isn't higher on the popular list - this is an excellent horror experience. Very well made!

I have a feeling we're going to be seeing a lot of popularity for this game once knowledge of its existence spreads a bit more.

(+1)

It has dropped greatly recently, but I never expected it to go as high as ot did anyway :P, I think that it dropped when I released a bugged version for 10 hours, so that is on me. Anyhow, thank you so much for your lovely words <3, I do hope that the game has not reached it's peak yet, but guess only time will tell! Till then, this game is certainly not our last, and we will do whatever we can to bring quality to the table with our titles for you fellow gamers who deserve it so much for being such great people!

(+1)

😊👍

Thank you! I have seen your vid before, I always appreciate people making Letsplays on the game!

(+1)

That was scary!

Thanks a lot

Thank YOU! I'm glad that you found the experience scary, hope it wasn't TOO scary :P

(+1)

I streamed this game for my sister and her husband and we all got super hooked! I love the retro atmosphere! The jumpscares were tasteful and the tension was progressive and impactful! We also fell in love with many of the dolls! #TinaDidNothingWrong

That is very lovely to hear! It's so nice to see so many people actually resonating with some of the dolls! When it comes to Tina, it is very interesting to see so many people have their different opinions on such dark, but unfortunately real matters, but I have to say personally, I have to agree, go Tina!

(+1)

Awesome game, I am gonna revisit this today after seeing you fixed the  issue :) its a unique experience i dig :)

[I got lost in the dark when i played it last time xD]

Thank you so much!! You can turn on your flashlight and place it in a convenient spot to on the ground to make a makeshift spotlight, this will certainly help you work in the environment and it will be visible, if the power goes out! Additionally, if you are playing on the lowest graphical setting, try setting it at least one level higher, as the lowest settings disabled light bouncing, making everything rather dark! But thank you once again!

(+1)

This is the most perfect and best game I have ever played. The author has really worked hard. I hope the author continues to update it. I will support this game, and I hope there will be a Chinese version.

Thank you so much for the kind words! I would love to add more localazation in the game, but I (The dev) really only know two, English and Czech. I'd have to Google translate any other language, wich doesn't feel ideal. I might look into it at some point, and have someone rate the Google translators work on longer sentences in dialogues and the UI, but until then, Burning Eye titles will be primarily in English and very possibly czech. Thank you once again for such kind words <3
